The XIX International Botanical Congress Invitation Letter to the Media

Dear Journalists,

The XIX International Botanical Congress will be held between the 23rd and 29th of July 2017 in Shenzhen, China. We warmly invite you to attend and report on the progress of the Congress.

The International Botanical Congress is the world's largest and most all-encompassing academic meeting concerning the science of botany. The first Congress was held over a century ago in Paris, France, in the year 1900. Since then, with few exceptions, congresses have been held every six years. This will be the first time that the International Botanical Congress will convene in China, the first time in a developing country, and the first time in the beautiful seaside city of Shenzhen.

More than 5,000 delegates from around the world will attend, including scientists engaged in research and applied sciences, research and development personnel, members of the education community, students from all levels, as well as amateur botanists. In keeping with the tradition of past congresses, the agenda of this Congress will cover all aspects of the plant sciences, and also cover cross disciplinary topics and integrated multi-disciplinary approaches.

We warmly welcome you to attend and report on the Congress. We kindly ask you to complete the application procedures prior to 3 July 2017. The details are as follows:

1. Please complete the 19th International Botanical Congress Journalist Application Reply Form (see attached), then send the scanned reply form, including your organisation's official stamp, to the Congress media email address: [email protected].

2. To process an application for an interview permit for the Congress, you are kindly asked to provide formal proof of identity, such as an ID card, passport or travel permit; journalist credentials that have been approved and issued by the State Press and Publication Administration; and an interview introduction letter or reply form provided by your agency.
