On this trip we will explore the deciduous forest ecoregion and the huge variety of plants and wildlife, some of which are found nowhere else on Earth. The Qinling Mountains serve many important roles, such as a natural boundary between the northern and southern climates of China and the boundary between the Oriental and Palearctic realms. On day one, we will start the tour in Xi’an with a visit to the Emperor Qin Shihuang’s (259-210 BCE) Mausoleum and the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. Then we head to Taibai Shan to explore the vertical distribution of vegetation on the northern slope. The vegetation includes typical and unusual plants as well as alpine meadows.
